Trouble In The Woods

Tiger's return to golf has been less than stellar since his very public, personal scandal rocked the world last year.

The trouble with Woods, started with a late-night car crash at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, November 27th, 2009. Gossip news sources tmz.com, and the National Enquirer, reported him having an extramarital affair (just days before the crash). According to reports, this led Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, to speculate the rumors which then sparked a heated dispute between she and Woods.

Florida Highway Patrol issued Woods a $166.00 (USD) fine for the crash and declared the accident a closed-case, but more claims of Woods' infidelity hit the media afterwards, with a slew of several young women being involved.

Ironically, after several months of lock-jawed silence from the Woods camp, on a cold winter's day in February (in front of a privately selected media ensemble), Woods spoke openly and publicly for the first time, revealing that yes, he did in fact have several adulterous affairs... but that he is now sorry!

Commenting on the return to golf, via his blog, Woods stated, "I have to say it felt great to return to competition at the Masters Tournament. To actually contend in a major on the back nine Sunday and tie for fourth with very little preparation, with all that has transpired in my life, was pretty cool. I honestly didn't know what to expect from the fans, but they were absolutely incredible... They definitely helped me mentally to be more comfortable out there... To get that type of warmth is something I did not expect and will never forget.

Yet, in having what it takes to dominate the sport again, Woods even admits, "I didn't have my game."

Moreover, on Sunday, May 9th, 2010, Woods withdrew from THE PLAYERS Championship (in Round 4), at TPC Sawgrass, with a neck injury. Woods' official website, tigerwoods.com, reports that, "After an MRI on Wednesday (May 12th) in Orlando, Fla., it was determined that Tiger Woods has an inflamed facet joint in his neck. When the facet joints are inflamed, it causes pain in the affected area as well as headaches and difficulty rotating the head. 'I want to thank everyone for their caring and concern,' Woods said. 'I now need to take care of this condition and will return to playing golf when I'm physically able.'

"Physical therapy, including soft-tissue massage, rest and anti-inflammatory medicine will be used to treat the injury. The prognosis for Woods is a full recovery, although a return date to competitive golf is contingent on how quickly the condition heals. The layoff is not expected to be extensive but can vary."

We'll stay tuned to what happens next on the Woods radar...
