Katie Rost knocks-out Leukemia and Lymphoma, one event at a time.
Having appeared in national advertising campaigns for companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Belvedere, David's Bridal, and within the pages and on the cover of magazines such as Honey, Essence, STYLE 101:, and having strutted her stuff for designers such as Stephen Burrows and Lanvin, the gorgeous and leggy top model, Rost, has had a very prestigious career within the fashion and modeling industry.

Now, she has her eyes set on another prize and her cause is a noble one, she's championing a cure for blood cancer.
912,938 people in the United States are living with or are in remission from a blood cancer, and Rost has developed Team Believe!, an organized group of the Nation's Capital area philanthropists, whose mission is to help her sock it to cancer. Others from her generation would rather not bother with taking up someone else's bed and walking with it, Rost has gone the extra mile to help ensure that cancer patients have a longer chance at life, even if it involves just being happy for one more day.
Every cent raised by Rost and her team, goes directly to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. In November of 2009, Rost was nominated by the National Capital Area Chapter as a candidate for the society's 'Woman of the Year.'
In support of her campaign for the honor, Rost fully initiated her bid on Saturday, May 15th, by hosting a celebrity-studded, charity event titled 'Monte Carlo Night.'
The soiree, held at the exclusive TPC Clubhouse in Potomac, Maryland, was a casino-themed, creative black-tie affair with an enthralling atmosphere. Roulette tables spun, gambling chips stacked, and party-goers enjoyed live music, a fashion show, and reveled in the delight of raising money AND having fun all in the name of a worthy cause!

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, via their website, says, "Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 'Man & Woman of the Year' titles, by raising funds for blood cancer research. The candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Every dollar counts as one vote, and the titles are awarded to the man and woman with the most votes at the end of ten weeks." So, in regards to the success of Rost's event, as well as her aim for the title, only time will tell, as everyone on the TeamBelieve! staff anxiously awaits the June 12th ceremony that will name this years winners.
Albeit, June is going to be a very busy month for Rost, it will also be a rewarding one, as she will be photographed for VOGUE magazine!!!
Rost's image has already been snapped by elite fashion photographers such as Bruce Weber, Marc Baptiste, and Terry Richardson, but most recently she was 'hand-picked' by Anna Wintour, to join 'The VOGUE 100.' Rost's friend, Andrea Rodgers (also a member and creator of askmissa.com), says the group comprises "influential decision makers and opinion leaders known for their distinctive taste in fashion and culture. The Vogue 100 will represent a group of women in New York, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, DC and San Francisco who personify the rising influence of women over the past several decades."

Russell Simmons helps men feel like $1M Bucks...
Often referred to as the godfather of hip hop, Simmons, a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation and a supporter of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, has built an empire from his mega-success in the music and entertainment industries, and has -for years now- been offering his advice on how others, too, can live their best life.

Simmons' personal story is well-known; after co-founding Def Jam Records in 1984, he sold his stake in the company for $100M (USD) to Universal Music Group in 1999, and in 2004, he sold Phat Farm and Phat Fashions into a partnership with Kellwood clothing company, reportedly to expand his vision of the brand; but during divorce proceedings from his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons, he stepped down as CEO of Phat Fashions, leaving Kimora to helm the company.
2009 proved to be a weighty year for Simmons, as he and Kimora finally divorced in January. Shortly thereafter, in April, he launched his collaboration with Wal-Mart, but amidst the celebration was scandal, as Simmons received backlash from public misinformation surrounding his 2004 RushCard banking venture. With claims that it robbed lower income individuals of true financial freedom, Simmons adamantly defended the service, smoothing over consumer fury by stating, “The RushCard is a prepaid card, NOT a credit card. It gives people the convenience of a credit card without the debt... I have watched with pride the way RushCard has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people giving them respect and dignity. It gives under served communities the tools to get their money right.”
Thankfully, by May of that year, Simmons proved to be in the clear as he was appointed Goodwill Ambassador by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the United Nations for the UN Slavery Memorial, to Honor the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Drama-free and now able to fully focus his attention on fun fashion and philanthropic endeavors, Simmons proudly promotes his Argyleculture, Green Bracelet, and American Classics initiatives.

On Tuesday, May 4th, 2010, fashion-guru and style expert, Lauren Daisy Lewellyn, gave birth to her first child... no, not the human kind, but rather the reader-friendly kind, in the form of her newly released, soon-to-be nationally bestselling book.
The launch of Lewellyn's style-guide, Never Pay Retail Again: Shop Smart, Spend Less, And Look Your Best Ever (Simon & Schuster, 2010), was celebrated with an A-list party held at designer Tracy Reese's flagship store in the ultra-chic meatpacking district of New York City.
