Building a house that is as equally cool as it is luxe, seemingly came easy for 84 year old fashion designer, Hubert de Givenchy.
(Hubert de Givenchy)Born into a French aristocracy may have, perhaps, helped Givenchy to secure the connections needed to make him an overnight success in the fashion world... but, having an earnest passion for fashion/having attended the famed Paris École des Beaux-Arts/having worked for legendaryy designer Elsa Schiaparelli AND having designed for Audrey Hepburn, certainly cemented Givenchy's talents, which now allow him to rest on his laurels.
Moreover, Givenchy helped the WORLD become familiar with the term "Little Black Dress," coined in 1961, after the black, satin dress he designed for Hepburn in the classic film, Breakfast At Tiffany's!!!
In 1995, Givenchy retired from designing, and with the house being under control of LVMH, it's definitely seen its share of creative directors...

(Alexander McQueen x Givenchy, former designer)
(Julian Macdonald x Givenchy, former designer)
(Ozwald Boateng x Givenchy, former designer for men's)
(Riccardo Tisci x Givenchy, current designer)
Despite all the ups-and-downs associated with the namesake label, Givenchy is still -at least- able to see the brand grow from what he originally set out to start 50+ years ago!
