It's always nice to see a colleague do considerably well, in his or her field, and such is the case with Gabriel Urist; a metalsmith and former FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) schoolmate. I first met Urist -many years ago- as he was starting to establish his jewelry-making empire (headquartered in Brooklyn, New York), I had interviewed him (possibly his first of many), for FIT's W 27 newspaper, and I remember the article was a big hit on the campus, because of the impressive strides he was making in the industry, seeing as it was only our freshman year!!!

Fast-forward to 2012, and Urist is still making headlines... save this time, he's gone from FIT to the NBA (not for basketball, but for his craft and love of the game). Urist turns precious metals into wearable art, and has created a number of pieces that are dedicated to NBA basketball teams, and to celebrate the inclusion of the Brooklyn Nets to the sports roster, Urist has created several, key items, for sale, on his Town of Basketball, online gallery.
