Stella McCartney

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT
(Stella McCartney)

Coming from a family of rock royalty, one can imagine that it's not so difficult to land your place within the world of high society. And, when speaking of Stella McCartney, with her dad being Sir Paul McCartney... thee Paul McCartney (from The Beatles) *lol* you have to wonder, does she really have any idea of what it's like to struggle?!

(Sir Paul McCartney)

Well, maybe not ever having to struggle in the financial sense, but being that Stella went into the field of fashion, and not music... her struggle was there; maybe not as tough as dad's (or anyone else's for that matter), but in building an internationally renown fashion house that DOES NOT use or sell leather goods... her struggle was there, from the beginning!!!

McCartney, a graduate of the Central Saint Martin's school of Fashion Design (1995), was born and raised in London, and received an honorary fellowship from CSM -last month- for her years of dedication and service to the fashion industry, out of which, she has vowed to sponsor deserving students, through her new sponsorship program at the school.

According to her eponymous website, "In 2001, Stella McCartney launched her own fashion house under her name in a joint venture with Gucci Group (now PPR’s luxury division) and showed her first collection in Paris in October 2001."
But, before launching her own label, she was the Creative Director of Chloé (in 1997), and has since launched major collaborations with companies such as H&M and Adidas. McCartney has won a slew of industry awards, including a coveted VH1/VOGUE Fashion Award, a Fashion Group International Award, et al. Moreover, for this year's 2012 London Olympics, McCartney was appointed to design ALL of the uniforms for Great Britain (including the Paralympic Games).

Overall, the most important -and probably the best- thing that I truly like about McCartney, is the fact that she "does not use any leather or fur in her designs." Being a vegetarian, McCartney has made it well-known that there are plenty of other ways to produce high-end, luxury fashion, without having to sacrifice an animal's life for it, and I LOVE HER FOR THAT!!!!

McCartney's collections are sold worldwide and include "women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, lingerie, eyewear, fragrance and organic skincare." God Bless Her Soul!!!
