Blanc de Chine stayed true to its rich, modern take on tradition, as the distinctive brand debuted its Spring/Summer 2013 collection from their 5th Avenue, flagship store in midtown Manhattan...

Celebrating their 20th Anniversary (next Spring), BdC emphasized its signature color in almost every aspect of the show, proving that shades of white, are always in style -and in season. The women's wear encompassed stunning, formal gowns with unique elements of diamante-crystal beading, hidden pleats and sensual, sheer fabric; the sequined looks were my favorite, as the fabric was light -to the touch- in its subtle, matte offerings.
Diverging from the 'blanc' aesthetic, models also marveled in bold, rich colors including electric blue, in which one look was a pleated, layered tunic with a beaded collar detail, paired with a navy, silk skinny pant.
Maintaining function and comfort was key for their men's wear, which included soft cottons, silk and poly-blends (with a few, added surprises). BdC offered a short-sleeved, Chinoiserie-style tuxedo jacket with elegant, silk piping, which gave a look of cool sophistication for a breezy, summer evening. The more traditional offerings included a classic, mandarin collar jacket (in black), paired with a white, mandarin collar shirt and classic-style pants.
Channeling design elements from both, Eastern and Western cultures, seemed like a hard task, but the Blanc de Chine, creative team showed a collection that fused them together, seamlessly.
